K17 Presents: An Evening with Antonio Artese's West Coast Trio

Join us for an unforgettable night of music as Antonio Artese, Santino Tafarella, and Matt Perko converge to push the boundaries of jazz and classical music! Antonio Artese, joined by Santino Tafarella on bass and Matt Perko on drums, will present a concert of original compositions that explore the intersections of jazz and classical music, blending European and American cultural influences with the dynamic interplay of improvisation and composition.

Inspired by the lyrical elegance of Bill Evans' piano trio and Northern European minimalism, Artese's works resonate with intense lyricism, expanding the jazz piano trio format through innovative harmonic and rhythmic inventions. A refined musician who oscillates between California's Pacific shores and the rolling hills of Tuscany, pianist and composer Antonio Artese makes his debut at K17 Concert series.

We are excited to be back at the iconic Village Studio, a world-renowned recording complex located in a 1920s Masonic Temple in Los Angeles. The Moroccan Room, known for its stunning acoustics, will serve as the venue for this captivating event. We extend our gratitude to Jeff Greenberg for kindly providing us with the studio for the concert.

Antonio Artese is an Italian pianist and composer who has performed extensively across Europe and the U.S., excelling in both classical and jazz genres. He holds a Diploma from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome and a Doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). In addition to his performing career, Artese serves as the Dean of the Global Academic Program at the prestigious Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Italy.

Santino Tafarella began playing professionally at 15 and has performed regularly since, graduating from USC's Thornton School of Music with a bachelor's degree in jazz performance. Matt Perko is an accomplished drummer and composer from Cleveland, Ohio, now residing in Santa Barbara, who has performed alongside jazz legends.

In a haunting collaboration, K17 Music and Hollywood Graveyard present "Death and a Maiden", a mesmerizing evening of chamber music that will transport you to the threshold of mortality and the mystery that lies beyond. This extraordinary concert weaves together timeless chamber music by classical masters Bach and Schubert, alongside contemporary visionaries Arthur Dark, Giuseppe Vasapolli, and Anna Drubich, and the dark romanticism of Danny Elfman.
